Sinopse: Pertencente a linhagem dos Leões, Lion é o líder supremo de todos os Thundercats. Filho de Claudius (o grande rei de Thundera), ele deixou seu planeta natal quando ainda era um garoto. O jovem chefe recebeu do sábio Jaga (guerreiro mestre da arte dos Thundercats) os ensinamentos sobre a tradição e sabedoria Thunderiana e os verdadeiros valores que um líder deve ter e acima de tudo, o código de Thundera que consistia na união dos quatro valores: Justiça, verdade, honra e lealdade.
Recebeu também a chamada herança Thunderiana que consistia na poderosa e mística espada justiceira onde estava encravado o Olho de Thundera, fonte de todo o poder dos Gatos do Trovão. Durante a destruição de Thundera, Lion e os outros Thundercats (Panthro, Tygra, Cheetara, Wilikat, Wilikit, Snarf e Jaga) abandonaram o planeta numa nave espacial e para conseguir chegar ao planeta de destino (O Terceiro Mundo) todos com exceção de Jaga, entraram em cápsulas de suspenção que iriam retardar o envelhecimento permitindo que os filhos de Thundera chegassem à seu destino com vida.
Mesmo tendo passado vários anos de sua vida nas cápsulas de suspenção, ao chegar ao Terceiro Mundo, Lion já era um homem de aparentemente 18 ou 19 anos de idade, trazendo consigo pouca maturidade mas demonstrando muita garra, força e determinação para defender os valores do código de Thundera.
